About us

The Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition (SHUC) is a non-profit community organization dedicated to preserving, improving and celebrating the quality of life in Pittsburgh’s 14th Ward.

SHUC has created a neighborhood Bicycle-Pedestrian Committee to ensure that our streets, sidewalks, and paths are safe and mutually respectful, with enhanced visibility, for all users – pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists. We also want to ensure that Squirrel Hill is an integral participant, along with the Greater Pittsburgh bicycling-pedestrian community, in all planning and policy considerations regarding street safety and usage by authorities in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, and the region.

This is a project of the Bicycle-Pedestrian Committee, serving the committee’s mission by providing a vision for bicycle transportation routes in our neighborhood.  Contact the project at ped_bike@shuc.org
